The Outsider's Guide to Melbourne is a site whose aim it is to journalise and record daily life in Melbourne, via peer reviewed written, photojournalistic and video competitions. The project was aimed at developing a new site without the heavy reliance on the previous version of the site on Flash technology and to provide a more interactive and user friendly base for which users and visitors alike would benefit. The site has a strong emphasis on allowing contributors to submit work in any format, i.e. audio, video, pdf, flash etc. This has been enabled via the development and use of several web applications.
